CG Life, an integrated marketing communications agency focused on the life science and healthcare markets is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Director of Media to join our San Diego office. The Director of Media is responsible for overseeing Media departmental operations and deliverables. This department runs digital marketing and advertising campaigns including paid search, programmatic advertising, email, social, display, audio, video, and traditional media buying. This position is responsible for all media strategy and ongoing advertising and marketing execution focused on both brand awareness and lead generation for a range of clients in the B2B life science and healthcare space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management: Lead and develop 6+ digital marketing and media buying specialists
  • Media Strategy: oversee how various offline and digital media channels come together to reach a clients’ customer personas with a focus on measurable outcomes
  • Budgeting: assist the team in being good stewards of clients’ third-party advertising budgets while also managing internal agency project budgets ensuring projects stay on target and profitable
  • Challenge assumptions: always be eager to learn and innovate and look for opportunities to optimize internal processes or client campaign strategies
  • Transparency: clearly define marketing and media plans and display metrics clearly to guide campaign direction or validate success
  • Flexibility: be prepared to pivot based on campaign results or as new client requests come through or new clients are onboarded
  • Storytelling: turn complex data into meaningful information to demonstrate return on investment and uncover actionable insights
  • Partnerships: owning all media services relationships and discovering new ones. Particular emphasis on vendor relations when it comes to working with trade publications in the life science and healthcare verticals

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Own the media strategy and media direction for driving advertising performance across all media channels
  • Participate in business development pitches and new client acquisition process, from initial interactions to developing presentation materials to crafting final scopes of work
  • Discover, research and test new and emerging media channels and technologies, as well as brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
  • Have an eye for business growth opportunities within an existing client relationship
  • For fully integrated campaigns or client relationships, facilitate collaboration with other departments within the agency
  • Be mindful of advertising messaging, website and landing page, CTAs and content strategy and be able to advise on best practices 
  • Strong technical background in all aspects of digital advertising and ability to supervise tracking implementation – from paid media KPIs by channel to source attribution to tagging via GTM
  • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate campaign performance across multiple media channels and marketing touch points
  • Work with the team to produce meaningful, relevant and visually appealing reports and presentations to explain the overall strategy and necessary documentation to explain the results, or justify the recommendation(s)
  • Mentor team members and set clear career paths for each

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years’ experience in marketing, ideally with extensive B2B digital marketing background
  • Science background preferred
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and creating integrated media strategies for marketing campaigns that engage, inform, motivate and convert
  • Analytical and technical marketing background; extensive knowledge of website analytics tools
  • Experience in necessary advertising programs – e.g. BIONIC and Sizmek
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) with extensive knowledge of tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, SEMrush, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized with impeccable project management skills, making sure all projects are on time and on budget
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all diverse array of people
  • Be self-motivated, confident, energetic, creative, as well as, analytical; isn’t afraid to present new ideas and take risks
  • Aware of latest media technologies and how to apply them in marketing
  • Experience supervising teams, conducting performance evaluations, delivering candid feedback with enthusiasm for mentorship and professional development

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Bachelors degree in marketing, life sciences or a related field
  • 8+ years previous Marketing or related experience
  • Strong presentation skills. Persuasive and articulate
