5 Black Science Organizations You Should Know
While Juneteenth is a day of celebration to commemorate the emancipation of African-American slaves, it is also a day of reflection for our country and the work that still has yet to be done in the fight for equality.
Today we will reflect, listen, and learn from our past to help build a world where prejudice and hate no longer exist.
Below are a few Black science organizations that CG Life is proud to support. We encourage you to learn more about them and help support them as well.
Black Microbiologists Association (BMA)
The Black Microbiologists Association (BMA) provides resources and support for Black microbiologists early on in their careers. Through advocacy, professional development, science communication, and outreach, the Association’s mission is to pursue equity in academia, government, and more.
Donations support furthering education and future employment opportunities.
Black Women in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Science (BWEEMS)
Black Women in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Science (BWEEMS) empowers and offers a global community for Black women in the fields of ecology, evolution, and marine science who have been historically overlooked in the field.
Donations support conferences, mentorship programs, training, and community building.
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-run organizations in the U.S., with more than 600 chapters and 24,000 members. The organization encourages and supports aspiring Black engineers to excel in their studies, careers, and community involvement.

Association of Black Women Physicians (ABWP)
The Association of Black Women Physicians (ABWP) provides support for Black women in science, medicine, and public health. The Association creates networking and mentorship opportunities for students and women early in their careers to encourage diversity in the field of medicine.

Black Girls Do STEM
Black Girls Do STEM is an organization that supports the equitable representation of Black women and girls in STEM fields. Specifically targeting Black girls who have been systematically excluded, Black Girls Do STEM provides resources and skills needed for women and girls to complete academic programs and find employment opportunities successfully.
