UNWIND 2019: Social Networking the Old School Way – In Person!
Long ago, we here at CG Life grew tired of infomercial-like presentations and the hefty entry fees that have been the hallmark of most networking events. So, we hatched a new idea: Let’s create a fun space where people actually get to connect, learn from each other, and start real relationships. The result? UNWIND… Life science networking the way it should be with craft beer and wine, the best street tacos in the world, and awesome, live music to set the mood.
Since 2011, UNWIND has grown into a massive annual event with a wonderful following that reflects the life science and healthcare ecosystem. This year, CG Life once again partnered with Women In Bio (WIB) to organize and host this one-of-a-kind event in August for nearly 500 life science professionals to come together, network and chill. Scientists, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, medical writers, science journalists, university administrators, and pharma and biotech executives from across Southern California gathered to share their passion for healthcare and scientific innovation. UNWIND also highlighted the great work of WIB, an organization of professionals committed to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship for women in the life sciences.
Always a favorite, Tacquizas el Unico delivered with fresh street tacos, and 32 North Brewing poured some awesome craft beer. Live reggae, rock and hip hop music was in full effect from The Counterfeits. Plus, CG Life once again managed to keep the event free for life science professionals to attend thanks to this year’s sponsors: Brex, Business Wire, California Life Sciences Association (CLSA), Cellink, Eppendorf, Genomatica, Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News (GEN), Northeastern University, Rady School of Management at U.C. San Diego, The Connell Group and Ventas.
These events are a labor of love and we will keep the love going as long as people need to meet other people to collaborate, communicate and relate with each other to make science happen.
